verdict, majority The verdict need not be unanimous if, in a case where there are not less than 11 jurors, 10 of them agree on the verdict, or in a case where there are 10 jurors, 9 of them agree on the verdict. A majority verdict is not accepted unless it appears to the court that the jury have had not less than two hours for deliberation (or longer where considered appropriate) and unless the foreman states the numbers agreeing and disagreeing with the verdict. |
