talak Divorce, dissolution or annulment of marriage by a Mohammedan husband. There are three modes of talak under the Mohammedan law. (1) Talak ahasan, i.e. by a single pronouncement of talak during tuhr or period of menstruation followed by abstinence from sexual intercourse. (2) Talak hasan, i.e. by three pronouncement of talak during three successive periods of menstruation with no sexual intercourse during the entire period. (3) Talak-ul-bideat or talak-ibadai, i.e. three pronounce ments or a single pronouncement of talak during a single course of menstruation.
