livery of seisin Part of the early procedure of conveying a freehold, known as feoffment of fee with livery of seisin. It consisted of livery in law (symbolic delivery of property within sight of the land to be conveyed) or livery of deed (grantor stood on land to be conveyed and invited grantee to enter).
