diligentia [Roman law.] Diligence; care. There were two grades: (1) Excata, all possible diligence; such care as would be taken by good or most thoughtful paterfamilias. (2) Quantum in suis rebus adhibere solitus est, the diligence or care a man usually employs in his own affairs.
