confusion of goods The mixture of things of the same nature but belonging to different owners so that the identification of the things is no longer possible. The right to the ownership of the constituent parts is not in general lost by mixing, but possession of the mixture may be awarded to the party with the best right to it, subject, in a proper case, to compensating the owner of the other constituents.
