choses in action The expression choses in action or things in action in the literal sense means things recoverable by suit or action at law as contrasted with things or choses in actual physical possession. For general purposes, however, the expression choses in action is now used in order to distinguish those chattel interests which, unlike choses in possession, are incapable of transfer by delivery of the subject-matter. |
