tenant at will

One holding under a tenancy at will, which exists where the tenant (T) occupies Ls land, with Ls consent, on terms under which L or T may determine the tenancy at any time. In this case the lessee is called tenant at will because he hath no certain or sure estate, for the lessor may put him out at what time it pleaseth him : Littleton. It may be created by express agreement or implication and may be ended by L or T if, e.g., either should assign land, or die.
