tax

A tax is not correlated to particular service rendered to meet the expenses of the Government and a fee is meant to compensate the Government for expenses incurred in rendering service of a special nature to the persons from whom the fee is collected. The distinction between a tax and a fee lies in the fact that tax is levied as a part of a common burden, while a fee is payment for a special benefit or privilege.
