satisfaction Payment or fulfilment of a legal debt or obligation; discharge of a legal obligation. Payment in satisfaction may amount to a release. In relation to the claims of debts, contracts, mortgages and executions, satisfied means discharged, extinguished, paid released, etc., but the word has not been used in this sense in section 145.
