probate A certificate granted by the High Court to the effect that the will of a certain person has been proved and registered in the court and that administration of his effects has been granted to the executor proving the will, he having first sworn faithfully to administer them and to exhibit a true inventory and render a just account when called on. The copy of the will is termed the probate copy. |
