particulars

Matters concerning pleading in an action needed by the other party so that he shall understand the case to be made. They may be applied for by letter or by summons for an order for further and better particulars. They will not be ordered in relation to a matter not pleaded specifically. The object of particulars is to enable the party asking for them to know what case he has to meet at the trial and so to save unnecessary expense .
