interrogatories

Written questions answerable on oath relating to any a party may administer, with leave, to an opponent. Their purpose is to obtain admissions and to limit the scope of an opponents case. They must be answered within the time prescribed. The allowance or disallowance of interrogatories is a matter for discretion, and they should be allowed or disallowed on the merits of the particular case : Answers to interrogatories are binding.
