equality before the law This doctrine of equality before the law follows from the concept of the English Rule of Law. Jennings in his Law and the Constitution defines the doctrine thus. Equality before the law means that among equals the law should be equal and should be equally administered, that like should be treated alike . The state shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India. (Constitution of India, Art. 14). |
