use Term which may have originated in opus (X tenet ad opus Y-X holds for the benefit of Y). Example: Tenant, A, transferred land by common-law conveyance to the transferee, B, who undertook to hold it to the use of (i.e., on behalf of) C. A was known as the feoffor, B was the feofee to uses (i.e., party to whom feoffment of land had been made), C was cestiu que use (shortened version of cestiu a que use le feoffment fuit fait-to whom feoffment had been made). |
