human rights The European Convention on Human Rights has been in force since 1953. It created the Commission on Human Rights and the Court of Human Rights. The Commission investigates and tries to conciliate. If this fails the matter may be brought before the court. It has been held that the convention does not have the force of law in the United Kingdom. |
